The Tree of Life Kenya is proud to be part of an exciting new initiative that is set to inspire action, promote inclusion, and create lasting opportunities for communities across Kenya and beyond.
We recently participated in the inaugural planning meeting for the Baden Powell Marathon 2027, a landmark event being developed in partnership with the World Scout Parliamentary Union Kenya (WSPU) and spearheaded by former World Marathon Champion Douglas Wakiihuri.
Scheduled to take place in Nyeri, Kenya, in 2027, the marathon is envisioned as a global platform that brings together elite athletes, corporate teams, Scout groups, and teams of persons with disabilities from Kenya and around the world. More than a sporting event, the Baden Powell Marathon aims to unite people around a shared purpose: creating meaningful and sustainable opportunities for children, families and communities.
At its heart, the marathon seeks to champion access to quality, equitable, and inclusive education, while supporting skills development and lifelong learning opportunities for young people. The initiative will also contribute to strengthening local livelihoods through enterprise development, agribusiness, and ecopreneurship, helping communities build resilience and unlock economic potential.
For The Tree of Life Kenya, this partnership reflects our commitment to empowering young people and vulnerable communities through education, innovation, sustainable livelihoods, and social inclusion. We believe that sport has a unique power to inspire action, foster unity, and mobilize resources for positive change.
Through the Baden Powell Marathon 2027, every kilometre run will represent more than a race completed. It will symbolize new opportunities created, skills developed, livelihoods strengthened, and communities empowered to thrive.
